Bhaskar Nune

Success Story

Sixty-six-year-old Bhaskar Nune, from Sunnyvale, Texas, is self-employed, married, and has one daughter. One night, while getting up to use the restroom, he lost his balance and fell, unable to get up. His wife called 911, and he was transported to the hospital. After being admitted, Bhaskar was diagnosed with pneumonia and acute respiratory failure with hypoxia, a condition in which the lungs are unable to provide enough oxygen to the body, leading to dangerously low oxygen levels in the blood.

During his initial hospital stay, Bhaskar was intubated and put on a ventilator to help him breathe. He was eventually weaned from the ventilator and referred by the hospital staff to Mesquite Specialty Hospital (MSH) for further critical care.

Upon admission to MSH, Bhaskar could stand but had limited mobility. He received physical, occupational, and speech therapy, which contributed to his recovery. As a result, he grew stronger each day and eventually walked with the help of a walker.

After 25 days at MSH, Bhaskar was transferred to Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute for intensive acute rehabilitative therapy. His goals are to walk independently without assistive devices and to return to work.
