Jayden Brown

Success Story

From Mesquite, Texas, 22-year-old Jayden Brown is an electrician who enjoys working out and playing video games.

Recently, Jayden fell from a moving car and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He woke up in an acute care hospital one month later and required extended medical support to recover. He was transferred to Mesquite Specialty Hospital (MSH) for continued long-term critical care after a recommendation from his family. The hospital also is located close to Jayden’s home.

Jayden arrived at MSH bedridden, with left-side weakness and on a ventilator. He was enrolled in the hospital’s respiratory failure program. MSH is nationally certified in Respiratory Failure by The Joint Commission, utilizing best practices and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for its patients.

Over the course of a month, the hospital’s interdisciplinary healthcare team carefully weaned Jayden off the ventilator while he participated in physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapies, helping him regain strength, mobility, and communication skills.

Now, Jayden is able to walk and has regained much of his strength. He is eager to return to work and resume normal life.
